Route details

Short characteristics

It is a very varied loop leading across the fields and through the forests in a less frequented area. Dirt roads dominate the track but sometimes it gets sandy and there are some asphalt stretches with little traffic. In Grabowka there is a good starting point next to the carp fry shop. For the first part of the route, you follow blue pedestrian signs of the archaeological trail and then the orange bicycle signs of the Barycz River Valley. For a short stretch, you enter the educational path and later follow the Trzebnica red bicycle loop. At the end, you pass a short educational path and again the archaeological trail to Grabowka. The track is a blue-orange-red-green patchwork.

Grabowka ponds

This is a beautiful section leading first on a quite sandy forest road and then from the Maly Mewi (Small Seagull) Pond on a picturesque path winding along the shore. There may be a few fallen tree trunks. Later, you ride again on a wider dirt road.

The Hill of Witches

This name has been given to the high dunes covered with a pine forest. They make a nice viewpoint and are located on the shore of a reservoir which was called the Witches’ Pond (Hexen Teich) several decades ago. The blue trail turns there from a comfortable road to a path that is well marked but very difficult to ride. This section is 1.2 km long and is strenuous to cycle on, although I had no problems on my 2.4″ wheels. It is very easy to go around it using the main road which you cycle on. But you simply must at least climb the Hill!

Up to the Niezgoda Weir

The weir is an exceptionally interesting wooden structure. The only one of its kind among many weirs constructed in the Barycz River Valley. It supplies water to the Rudy Pond and the Jamnik (Dachshund) complex. Additionally, the reservoirs in Niezgoda and Ruda Sulowska are accessible through the Niezgoda Canal and Paszkowy Ditch (via Mlynowka Sulowska). It is worth looking at the map how cleverly the whole system is built. It is also unique that in this place you can see a lot from your bike. Along the Niezgoda Canal, the Mlynowka Jamnicka and the Barycz Rivers, you will find comfortable ducts that encourage exploration. The Stara Sulowska Road, on which you continue your journey, is also very nice. From Ruda Zmigrodzka empty asphalt roads are waiting, twisting a bit but surrounded by beautiful nature.
