Janowice Wielkie, Loop Rudawy Yellow. DOT19
Route details
Short characteristics
The loop is less than 42 km long but you should add nearly 1,200 m of elevation gain and, in your planning, take into account steep climbs. It is not classified as a classic MTB but, in fact, it is close to that category. The route is very impressive and absolutely worth recommending. Its strengths are beautiful mountain and foothill views and tourist attractions. Most of it runs on dirt and gravel roads of good quality. The natural starting point is Janowice Wielkie, where the railway station is located.
The Rudawy Janowickie Mountains
It is a small but very beautiful mountain range. When it comes to designated bicycle routes, you will find literally two: this one and DOT21 and the other two: DOT20 and DOT22 are very close. This is a good place to start exploring this spectacular area. Its hallmark are numerous rocks of bizarre shapes, where climbers can try their hand. Some of them offer impressive panoramas over the Karkonosze Mountains, the Sokoliki rock formations and the Karpnickie Hills. Most of the area is covered with forests.
Rock Bridge and Stove
While cycling in the highest parts of the Rudawa Mountains is already demanding, it is quite easy to reach some spectacular rocks. These two, which are among the most famous ones, lie on this very trail. ‘Skalny Most’ (Rock Bridge) immediately evokes obvious associations, it is worth reading what the history of the latter is.
Valley of Palaces and Gardens
This term covers numerous palaces and their gardens and parks, which can be found in the southern part of the Jelenia Gora Valley. Two such places (Karpniki and Bukowiec) can be found on this route.
