ER-6 Bobr River Main Line DOT181
Route details
Short characteristics
This one is one of the most interesting bicycle offers in Lower Silesia and it is certainly number 1 among the river valleys. It is a long linear track of a very variable character led along the Bobr River. There are many great views and numerous attractions. It starts on the Polish-Czech border and ends in Boleslawiec. We recommend this direction as it is naturally accessible from the railway stations in Lubawka, Kamienna Gora, Sedzislaw, Marciszow, Ciechanowice, Janowice Wielkie, Trzcinsk, Wojanow, Jelenia Gora, Stara Kamienica (where you have cycle up to reach the station) and Boleslawiec.
You can distinguish two sections of the track that are very different in character and, therefore, a good point of division is Siedlecin. The first, upper, section is easily accessible from many railway stations and runs mainly on narrow asphalt roads. It can be dedicated to family tourism and the only slightly more difficult section is the uphill part to Miedzianka. The second section is very demanding. From Siedlecin to Gorczyca, you ride on difficult and steep field and forest roads, which are often damaged, stony or overgrown. It is definitely for a MTB bike and for those who love nature. There is no intermediate station for possible evacuation there. From Lwowek Slsski, the route loses its riverside character and ceases to be a challenge. It becomes a pleasant ride among the fields.
- Lubawka – Debrznik / Sedzislaw (0-20 km)
You mainly ride on little traffic asphalt roads along the river and among the fields and you can admire some nice view. Note: currently this section is crossed three times by the construction of the S3 expressway. Therefore, we recommend it to those who do not mind such an impediment.
- Debrznik / Sedzislaw – Janowice Wielkie (20-35 km)
You can start this section in Sedzisław – it is an asphalt comfort zone with beautiful mountains and a nearby river. The gravel uphill part to Miedzianka can be challenging but generally it is a rather easy section.
- Janowice Wielkie – Jelenia Gora (35-54 km)
It is simple smooth and easy. A great idea for family tourism with numerous architectural attractions and beautiful views.
- Jelenia Gora – Siedlecin (54-62 km)
It is a trip in the Borowy Ravine. You follow a narrow footpath and a bicycle path called Marian Poludnikiewicz in the spectacular formation of the river gorge. It is fabulous and you can enjoy the Perla Zachodu (the Pearl of the West) inn. The section ends with the knight’s tower in Siedlecin.
- Siedlecin – Gorczyca (62-90 km)
This is the essence of off-road cycling. At the beginning, you go along a very impressive ledge along Wrzeszczyn Lake. There are a lot of roots there and it may be slippery after the rains. Another very demanding section is past Barcinek to the dam. It is steep and there are loose stones. Once you have passed Nielestno, you will find the path ruined and will have to push your bike for 300m. However, it is possible to descend and choose another, easier, forest path by Wlen, where you can must cross a ford.
- Gorczyca – Boleslawiec (90-122 km)
This is a comfort zone where asphalt roads prevail but there also are some field gravel ones. Near Lwowek, there is a dedicated bike path.
