Route details

The Crown of Kocie (Cat) Mountains

It is a rather unusual linear trail as it starts in the middle of a field and ends or does not end by the church in a small town of Strupina. There are no signs there and not a piece of information. The rail is shown in two different colors: blue and black and various lengths and mileage are given. On the side of these quirks and on the plus side, it leads across all significant hills of the Trzebnica Hills (hence the name ‘Crown of the Kocie Mountains’). And that is its best recommendation.

If you love riding across hills and you are a collector of unusual places, this is a challenge for you. You must take it! Just like that. Especially since these hills are the highest hills in Poland from the Sudetes to the Wiezyca hill in Pomerania. The logistics of this route is clearly simplified when you notice that the last sign was drawn on the border of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, before another larger hill called Wieza (249m a.s.l.). It is therefore logical to assume that the route starts at the station in Bukowina Sycowska and ends at the station in Skokowa. Both of these places are easily accessible by train from Wroclaw. Since the trail is quite long, it can be divided into two parts taking the railway station in Trzebnica (or better still in Tarczow Wielki) as the base. I marked both access sections with a dashed line.

Short characteristics

It is the route with 94km of access roads and 1100m of vertical. There are quite a few 5% climbs. The eastern part is dominated by forests, in the middle you ride across vast hilly field landscapes and, in the western part, there are forests again. In terms of the ground, asphalt roads alternate with generally hard dirt roads. There are spectacular views over the area around Trzebnica on its both sides, but the passage through this town breaks the continuity of the route.
