Short characteristics

It is quite an unusual theme-oriented route. There are many stretches of asphalt roads, even these with a lot of traffic,  mixed with sections of more difficult off-road tracks. This loop is dedicated to the enthusiasts who, in addition to cycling, also like to discover traces of history, as well as to all those who would like to explore new paths. I have marked the penitential crosses with the icon of the eye and the gords with a camera. Regardless of the historic content, the east part of the trail leading to the complex of ponds in Radziadz and Ruda Zmigrodzka has great scenic values and on the west side we can see a landmark which is unique on a global scale! The trail can be conveniently started from the railway stations in Zmigrod, Garbce or Korzensko.

Apparently, this is one of only eight in the world, which makes this facility rarer than the geysers! The durability and reliability of vehicles, railway equipment and systems as well as surfaces are tested there. The history of the founding of the institute is very interesting as about 45 years have passed from the first study works to its opening. It was realized after numerous perturbations and only in a heavily truncated form in 1997. The track looks quite interesting, there is even a large station-like section. You can reach it via a path near the crane. The entry is not prohibited, although the premises are monitored. You can admire the new Pesa trains on the site. On the entire track, the rides are collision-free and during the tests from the viaducts you can watch the speeding train from above. The loop is nearly 8km long and the maximum speed that can be reached there is 160 km/h, which means that the rides can be repeated every 3 minutes.

Delights in the Fish Inn

In the area of Milicz Ponds there are a few restaurants and fish bars that are really worth visiting and this one is definitely one of them. The Fish Inn (Karczma Rybna) offers four dishes based on the fish from its own farm and I truly recommend them. It is not a complicated cuisine but the quality of fresh meat is a sufficient recommendation. In addition, it is a cyclist-friendly facility as there is a sufficient number of racks and you can see your bike from the restaurant. Next to it, there is a pond with a very interesting nature trail, a shed with a swing, a spacious car park and a fallow deer farm, in other words: everything a family with toddlers need. Include at least an hour for the visit in your itinerary.

Cycling difficulties

On the section of the Kedzie – Chodlewo weir near the Barycz River, you may encounter slight problems. First of all, navigational because the newly added signs indicate a different direction to the other, older signs. Secondly, that the variant which probably was the original one along the embankment can be overgrown and therefore difficult to ride and the shortcut through the forest on the hiking trails is a nice swamp after heavy rain threatening to bathe you in ruts.
